As I was reviewing some things on my blog, I realized I was missing some of the frame designs that I have made over the years. So I am fixing that! Today I am sharing a purple paper quilled lotus frame design that I created. I made this frame a couple times. The inspiration from it came from a wedding invitation that had a slightly similar design. As a gift to the happy couple, I created this design on the matte of the frame, and used the middle of the frame to display their wedding invitation. It made a lovely gift!
Because I really liked the paper quilled lotus design, I made it again (as a gift for another couple) and made a tutorial for it as well.
After I created the frame design I realized that the lotus part of it would make lovely earrings! And the little leaves would make fun earrings as well! So that’s just what I did. Instructions for making those pieces into earrings are included in the tutorial.
You can find the tutorial on Etsy and Zibbet. Get it now for 30% off!! You’ll find the sale price already on Zibbet. On Etsy, use SHOP30 as the coupon code.
When I make these designs, I like using inset (shadow box) frames. I usually buy them at Ikea, as those are the ones that I can easily get here in Malaysia. If you don’t have an Ikea near you, check your local craft shops, or find some like these on Amazon:
I hope you enjoyed this paper quilled lotus frame design. I don’t often take the time to make frames, so it was fun to turn one into a tutorial! Stick around, there is lots to see on the blog!
